Our Liquid Cement screed (Cemfloor) options can be installed quickly (over 1000m2 per machine per day). Importantly saving our customers valuable time.
With an excellent thermal conductivity, this is very suitable and responsive to underfloor heating, thus ensuring lower energy bills and running costs. The Cemfloor Thermfloor product is used with UFH solutions to maximise heat transfer from the heat source. The screed is usually safe for foot traffic after about 24 hrs. We provide details to cure the product properly with a controlled introduction of heat through the UFH system. A key benefit of Cemfloor is that after cure-time is complete, there is no additional prep required from install to floor tiling.
Alternatively, Our Liquid Anhydrite screed produces a similarly smooth, flat, level floor. While product price per cubic metre is lower, if tiling or LVT are to be laid, post install sanding is required. Taking into account, total install time, cost and cleanliness, In most requests we recommend a Cemfloor Therm install.
We have a team of experienced and skilled UFH engineers who can work with you and your Architect to develop and install the perfect underfloor solution for your project. We can fit this to your air source heat pump or traditional boiler solution. Call us to see how we can help with the UFH element of your project.
If you want to reduce impact sound, the screed is laid as a “floating” layer. In this construction, insulation is first of all laid on the floor followed by in most cases one or more layers of insulation boards as an insulating layer, and then finally screed is poured on top of this.
However, a separation layer is needed between the insulation boards and the screed because screed could easily migrate through the abutting edges of the insulation boards and then transmit impact sound to solid structural components. Depending on the type of screed, we recommend using 500 or 1200 gauge Polythene as the separation layer.
Latex floor screed is a cement-based smoothing compound. Where it differs from other smoothing products is that it is mixed with latex instead of water.
This gives the screed a degree of flexibility. If there is any slight movement with the substrate, the latex will flex rather than cracking. This allows the product to be bonded to materials such as plywood.
We offer a range of liquid damp proof membrane solutions. These products can adhere to damp concrete and cement/sand screeds, even at lower temperatures. They can be applied without priming are Compatible with water based underfloor heating systems and can accept foot traffic after 6 hours @ 20C
After the liquid screed has been laid, a thin layer of laitance is left on the surface, this may need to be removed depending on your finished flooring.
The floor sanding should be done 7 -10 days after application. This improves drying time and provides a suitable key for tiling. The process of sanding is performed using specialised machines and is completed by professional engineers.
Using a diamond cutting pad the floor is sanded removing any laitance that may be present. Sanding improves the durability of the floor and avoids potential problems in the process of applying any final floor coverings like tiles, flags, carpet, vinyl, micro cement, and hardwood.
Once the floor has been sanded, a calcium sulphate compatible primer should be applied. After the floor has completely dried to the recommended moisture levels, the finished floor covering can be applied.
